The First Alert Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup and photoelectric sensor is designed to meet new building code while reducing common 'nuisance' alarms. This makes it an excellent choice for installation in kitchens, near fireplaces, or in hallways outside bathrooms, utility rooms, and other areas prone to steam that may accidentally set off other alarms. The Photoelectric sensor featured in this smoke alarm is more efficient in detecting slow and smoldering fires which smolder for hours before bursting into flame. This alarm also has Optipath 360 technology which provides 360 degrees of direct access to the smoke sensor. The single test/silence button silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality. This smoke detector also comes with a locking feature for tamper resistance which makes it a great choice for hotel/motel application.
